Barn and Backside Tour

On this tour visitors will get to see the other side to Churchill Downs, where the race horses are kept. Visitors will be in the middle of the race horse environment, seeing more than 1,400 horse stalls. These stalls line up behind the back of the horse track. Visitors will get to see world-class Thoroughbreds that range from millions of dollars in value to runner's with a purse of $5,000 (the cheapest race purse). Visitors on the tour will also get to watch the horses in training, see them being cared for, and learn about life at the track. Photo opportunities are available on the tour (time and weather permitting). This tour is offered only to guests visiting the Kentucky Derby Museum.

Please note: Guests will not be allowed to touch the horses.

Please Note:

Museum doors open at 7:00 AM for tour guests only.

Seats are limited since groups are transported by van to the backside of track. Also, don't forget your camera.
