History and Production of Bourbon

_______________________________________

Not all whiskey is bourbon, but all bourbon is whiskey.  There are federal laws that stipulate what bourbon may be and how its labeled; however, Kentucky is the only state that is given permission to place its name on the bottle.

Bourbon production follows the same process in every distillery in Kentucky.  Although, individual bourbon production techniques and formulas that account for all the many distinct flavors that Kentucky distilleries produce, to arrive at the many fine bourbons.

Even though the name of the first bourbon whiskey distillery may never be known, however, there will never be any guessing that Kentucky is the birthplace of bourbon whiskey.

The blend and mixture of sweet lime-stone water, a plentiful corn crop (the major grain for sour mash), white oaks for barrel-making, and hot summers for the aging process.  Kentucky has about a dozen distilleries, which distill, age and bottle the majority of America's whiskey production.
