Marker # 635 Long Hunters’ Camp

Henry Skaggs and two companions trapping beavers were probably the first white men in this area. It was named Long Hunters due to the amount of time each hunter would spend away from their home. Skaggs remained friendly with the local Indians, bringing many pioneers here later.
