Blanton Forest State Nature Preserve - A state nature preserve found in Harlan County, it is over 3,000 acres and is one of the largest old-growth forest in Kentucky.
Breaks International State Park - One of two interstate parks in North America it encompasses over 4,500 acres of woodlands. It is reported that it was part of many trips made by Daniel Boone.
Cave Run Lake - Here you will find over 90 miles of single track trails. Highly recommended lake to visit all year round.
Cumberland Gap - Offered by the National Historic Park service.
General (KyWilderness.com) - Great resource for the Eastern KY area and the Red River Gorge.
Pine Mountain Area - Located on the KY/Virginia border this website offers great information on almost every trail in Pine Mountain and the surrounding area.
Red Byrd Arch - You will find this natural site on the trails of the Red River Gorge.
Red River Gorge - This is a commercial mapping site with free online 3D maps as well as other information about camping sites.
Sheltowee Trace - Located between County 6234 and Laurel River Dam. This is a well-marked 20-mile trek that includes waterfalls, wildlife viewing also there are two overnight shelters. |
