Bike Trails in Kentucky

 

Louisville, KY and surrounding areas

 

Briar Hill - Louisville 

Description - This trail located north of Louisville in Oldham County, it is a singletrack with emphasis on technical riding verses speed. The track tests your fitness and bike handling skills.

Directions- Located east of Louisville, KY take HWY 22 east from the Gene Snyder for 4.5 miles and turn North on Briar Hill Parkway and follow to the parking area. 

 

Cherokee Park - Louisville

Description - Trail starts at Big Rock and bikes are only allowed on the north side of the creek. Good technical trail with built in obstacles. Watch out for people on the trails. 

Directions - From Taylorsville Rd. turn on to Pee Wee Reese Rd. Follow to stop sign and turn left to Seneca Park Rd. Follow to stop sign Across from stop sign you will see Big Rock and a parking area. Additional parking is available if you turn left and park on the opposite side of the creek.

 

E.P. Tom Sawyer BMX Track - Louisville

Description - This trail is one of the premiere BMX trails in North America. Full-face helmet is required.

Directions - Located in the E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park, take I-265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) to exit 32/Westport Rd., go west onto Westport Rd. Go to 2nd stoplight turn left on to Frey's Hill Rd. Right in to BMX track access road (after two 90 degree turns).  

 

Fort Duffield - West Point 

Description - A good singletrack with downhills, climbs, and multiple creek and log crossings.

Directions - From Louisville area head south on US 31 (you can follow I-265 around to US 31). From Elizabethtown  go north on US 31. From US 31 continue to West Point. Look for sign and turn in to the park. Go right at the split after coming in to the park, there will be a parking lot with access to the trail.  

 

Otter Creek Park - Muldraugh (Fort Knox)

Description - There a three trails and you can pick up maps at the Nature Center. The trails have some hills and technical sections with plenty of rocky sections.

Directions - From Louisville, KY take US 31-W (Dixie HWY) south past the city of West Point. Atop the hill of Muldraugh  turn right on to HWY 1638. Go approximately 3 miles and turn right in to the entrance for the park.

 

Waverly Park - Louisville

Description - Trail is a combination of old ATV trails with some singletrack trails made by the KYMBA.

Directions - Take I-65 south to the Outer Loop and go west. Turn left on to Third St. Road and then turn right on Arnoldtown Road. Entrance is approximately 3 miles down Arnoldtown Rd. on the left.  

 

Wilderness Loop Trail - Louisville

Description - Smooth and fast, the loop is great for training.

Directions - Take I-64/(I-71) to the exit ramp towards Cannons Lane. Continue north and turn on to Cannons Lane. Turn then on to Old Cannons Lane (there will be a fork - go left). Turn right on to Seneca Park Road. You will see shortly after a gravel shoulder on the left. Park there and the trail head is directly across the street.
