Paintsville Lake State Park (Mountain Homeplace):

 

Located in Staffordsville near Paintsville, Kentucky and Paintsville Lake State Park, Mountain HomePlace is a working farm of the mid-1800's. 

On a historical tour of the Mountain HomePlace guests will see the McKenzie Farmstead. At the McKenzie Farm, guests will see what is was like to live during the mid-1800's in the Appalachian Mountains. Guests will see what home life was like, as well as see the farm and school. There will also be a church that contains a wooden pew that dates back to 1851. There is a working blacksmith shop and a mule powered grist mill. A grist mill was used to grind the corn meal for the daily use that families had for it in the 1800's.
