Paintsville Lake State Park (Mountain Homeplace):
Located in Staffordsville near Paintsville, Kentucky and Paintsville Lake State Park, Mountain HomePlace is a working farm of the mid-1800's. On a historical tour of the Mountain HomePlace guests will see the McKenzie Farmstead. At the McKenzie Farm, guests will see what is was like to live during the mid-1800's in the Appalachian Mountains. Guests will see what home life was like, as well as see the farm and school. There will also be a church that contains a wooden pew that dates back to 1851. There is a working blacksmith shop and a mule powered grist mill. A grist mill was used to grind the corn meal for the daily use that families had for it in the 1800's. Tours begin when guests arrive so go visit the Mountain Homeplace today!
