Carter Caves State Resort Park:

Carters Caves State Resort Park is home to more than 20 caverns winding beneath its forested hills. Guests can sign up for a guided cave tour or hiking trip, or take a canoe trip down Tygart's Creek.

Cave tours are various lighted and unlighted. The Cascade Cave is exceptionally beautiful and features an underground waterfall over 30 feet high. The X Cave is named for the shape of its passages and noted for many of its formations. The Saltpetre Cave is tied to early Kentucky history and the Bat Cave (the largest cave in the park) is the winter home to thousands of rare bats and shown only during the summer. Special tours for beginning and experienced spelunkers are also scheduled. A fee is charged for tours.

Complete with a 9-hole golf course, canoeing, hiking, biking, and horseback riding this state park is a great getaway.

The hiking trails are aboveground beauties of the Carter Caves on the 20 miles of wooded nature trails. These trails range from easy to difficult hiking level abilities.

Fishing is also available at Carters Cave Lake and is the only trophy bass lake. In addition to largemouth bass, anglers vie for bluegill, catfish, and crappie.

To get there take Interstate 64 to KY 182 North. Carters Cave is located 30 miles west of Ashland, Kentucky.

Carters Cave accommodations are at Caveland Lodge. This lodge is a beautiful fieldstone lodge offers 28 rooms with full amenities. Cottages are also available. There is also camping sites, 89 sites with utilities, a dump station, and two central service buildings with rest rooms and showers.
